What should I expect?
The inspection is a limited visual inspection of the home. A typical
inspection takes approximately three hours.
Think of the inspector as a medical general practitioner. A home inspector
is a generalist that has a broad base of knowledge but is typically not an
expert in any single area. If problems are apparent, the inspector may refer
to a specialist in that field, much like a general practitioner may refer a
patient to a cardiologist or a dermatologist. We encourage the home buyer to
be present during the inspection if at all possible. This will increase the
knowledge and comfort level of the buyer and allow the inspector to share
tips and ideas for home preservation.
